Black Mesa

Howdy guys. Haven't posted anything on the forums, so I thought I'd start now.

I'd like to talk about the recent retail release of Black Mesa on the Steam store. Black Mesa, formerly known as Black Mesa Source, was released as mod for Half Life 2 in 2012, recreating the first Half Life game onto the current Source engine. Now that the retail version is out, it offers a spectacular gameplay experience for both those who played the original before and to those who are new to the Half Life franchise. The retail version also offers a multiplayer deathmatch gamemode that recreates memorable maps like Gasworks, Bounce, and Crossfire. Also, the assets found in the game can also be used in Source Filmmaker, Source SDK, and the Steam workshop.

Sounds pretty awesome, yeah?

Here's what I'm thinking: Seeing how ACR has expanded a bit over to Half Life 2: Deathmatch, I would like to make the suggestion we do the same for Black Mesa. I've played the 2012 mod countless times and highly suggest giving the retail version a try. I'm planning on getting it for myself once I have the cash. I'm also considering hosting my own server for the deathmatch if nobody else is willing to. And, again, keep in mind that this is just a suggestion.

While certain parts of chapters were removed and the Xen chapters are currently still in development, the retail version of the game was released three days ago (with Valve's permission) and can be purchased for early access ($20.00 for US).
